Anyone else watch the webcast ( or attend )? It was a storming performance
albeit with a sadly predictable setlist. It`s been filmed for another DVD
and I guess a likely CD ( as they seem to release another live album after
every studio album nowadays ).

Bruce confirmed they`ll be touring with the Powerslave stage set next year
and playing songs about "albatrosses and mariners" and that they`ll be
playing a muddy field in England which indicates Donnington again.
Presumably the next "days" DVD will come out in `08 as well I guess.

I watched it as well and thought it was a great gig. Looked like awesome
weather and a all around brilliant show. I was surprised by the "we are
filming a dvd" announcement but it certainly is a good surprise!
I'll be at the Dusseldorf show next Sunday.

Surprised? Really? A live DVD/CD after an Iron Maiden studio is pretty
much a certainty these days. So not a surprise to me, but good news
anyway!

The Powerslave stage meaning the one from the world slavery tour,
egyptian with splitting centrepiece? I wouldn't have thought they'd
have had the space to keep it, if indeed it was in good enough
condition after a year on the road.

No way, it was flown all over the world and assembled and disassembled
hundreds of times. It'll be a recreation.

Yeah, I watched it along with Slayer, Megadeth, Lamb of God, Machine Head.

My buddy is trying to talk me into going next year....I just might make the
flight!

I was there for the 3 days event camping - man - if you go - save yourself
and use the toilets inside the concert area when they open in the morning -
camping toilets - one big hell hole - gruesome.

Maiden? - I've seen them plenty of times including, luckily enough, intimate
gigs such as the Queens Mary College where Bruce studied prior to their
Seventh Son Donnington headline.

After 3 days of EMO/Thrash/Goth - whatever you call it - I don't mind what
it's called as long as the tune is good - Maiden - to me anyway - looked and
sounded old when they came on.

Yes they are getting on a bit when compared to e.g. My Chemical Romance,
Linkin Park etc. - and I thought hmmm... I was standing to the right of the
mixing desk and it seemed very empty for a place reasonably close to the
stage - however - you looked behind you, the cinema area, the banks - there
were people everywhere - picnic hampers and sun chairs - crikey we are all
getting on.

As for the set - yes they pulled it off - yes they sounded great - yes the
crowd responded - but somehow for me personally it didn't touch my soul(?)
as previous Maiden gigs have done.

There were only 7 or 8 bands I was interested in the whole weekend...Maiden,
Slayer, Megadeth and Mastodon were the big hitters and I like ( but am not
crazy about ) Dimmu Borgir, Suicidal Tendencies and Machine Head. The likes
of My Chemical Romance, Linkin Park, Papa Roach, Velvet Revolver, Aiden and
Marilyn Manson...ugh. No thanks. As an old school metal fan or just a fan of
less commercial pop/metal in general you`re better off travelling to one of
the European festivals...Wacken, Graspop or the like. They`re cheaper as
well!

Motley Crue on the second stage were storming - and what made it better was
you could see they did not expect such a great reception and therefore ,
blown away by the crowd response they rocked even harder..

(Band before Crue with Janes Addiction singer and Extreme guitarist Nuno
were very good as well)

Devil Driver - another band I did know but were good - and the wall of death
in the trent - holy shit

Oh that poor man. He's fallen many times, but he always gets right
back up and it's on with the show. What a great entertainer.

Up The Irons!!!

Hah, not for long it would seem - copyright problems already, though
it's been posted elsewhere.
